-[PLAY INFO: tested w/ + targeted at DSDA-Doom, for DOOM2 iwad, complevel 21, 7 maps]-

mapping sketchbook of Sept-Nov 2024, contains a disconnected set of visual themes, shapes
and gameplay styles I felt like trying out. Balanced for UV (skill 4) and HMP (skill 2+3).
UV can be quite tough, if you can handle, like, Sunlust, you'll do fine. (finding secrets 
is also highly recommended on UV.) I tested HMP to be something I can breeze through without 
much trouble, if you'd rather go easy on yourself it should be a significant step down.

01: Sog

a bite-sized sleepy sector tree grove (styled after RTH map22's forest) + adjacent
infighting puzzle. made mostly for the sake of drawing sector trees.

02: Swag Processing
MUSIC: "Infinite" by Tom Mustaine

I was having a discord convo one day about how cool of a texture ASHWALL is, and I realized
I had never used it in a map before, so, this rectifies that. some awkward encounters
featuring spiderdemons and PEs, but supplies are pretty forgiving.

03: Meatgrinder Wife

cr2/scythe2-esque evil jungle with sexy curves, and afrits! you can go for the final set of
fights pretty early, but there's 2 soulspheres, a megaarmor and plasma gun in store for 
those who explore the back half of the place. this map used to look quite different, it went 
through a handful of different texture themes for the time I was sitting on it before I 
settled on the funky jungle-industrial look.

04: Transgender Pizza Hut

not really sure what I was doing here. for the fans of awkward plasma-only fights
and REDROCK, I guess.

05: Kaini Industries
MUSIC: "Plantation Crash" by Kenny Chou from Zone 66, sequenced by James-Alan Nguyen

a warmly-colored industrial facility styled after Neo Gerouru. the yellow key is optional,
but you'll want it for the extra cells and armor. the afrits are back for revenge, especially 
in the final fight, it relies mostly on you having saved some cells + being able to lure 
them both to one side of the barrier.

06: Waterfowl

layout here is pure carefree doodling in the editor, converted into some movement puzzles.
inspired mostly by Eden's big swaths of green and blue.

07: I Won't Weep With You

sharp and curvy and finely crafted. this came together very quickly as a set of
organic/spiky/hostile shapes and aggressive fights to go along with them that was very much
mapping from the heart for me. it's the toughest in the wad and in my work so far, 
especially what happens when you hit the rk/yk switches. my main inspirations should be
obvious in the textures (and lack thereof), but akolai's plumes.wad was what really made
me want to explore this particular visual space.
