This manual describes the installation and use of PM Psi Utilities, the OS/2 PM environment for Erik Huelsmann's fine PSI Utilities. The PM Environment is written by Peter v.d. Kamp, with the help of DrDialog.
All the information in this manual applies to Version 1.0a of the PM Psi Utilities.
PMPSIUtilities.RES file to the directory of DrDialog (e.g. d:\drdialog)
SET PSIDIR=path_to_directory_with_psi_utilitiesSET PSIDIR=d:\psion5mx)
PMPSIUtilities.RES. The PM Psi
Utilities dialog appears.
From and
To or Which. From and To are used for those utilities who needs two arguments,
as with copying. The field marked with Which is not available then.From. In To you enter the destination
directory.Which is used for the utilities which require
one argument, e.g. a directory listing. When using such a utility, the fields
marked with From and To are not available then.
Execute.The output
of the utility (e.g. a directory listing) will appear in the field marked
with Status.
The PSI Utilities do not have a print function (to print a Psion file via the PC). The PM PSI Utilities facilitates this by copying a file from the Psion to the PC and directly send the copied file to the printer (assuming that a printer is connected to the PC). If you want to use this function for printing Psion Word files, do the following (this information applies to the Psion Series 5mx).
Print via to File.
Settings and enter a file name. Tap OK, tap OK again.
When the PSI Utilities are used on a notebook computer, the serial port could be
disabled when the computer leaves the standby or hibernation mode. Communication with
the Psion will not work then. You can try the following workaround (this works fine
for a IBM Thinkpad 600E).
Open a OS/2 window and enter the following command:
mode com1:115200
(Assuming that you use com1 for communication with the Psion and your
serial port supports this speed.)
